Last August we had planned to take a family vacation to walt disney world. We had saved money from our tax return and had our stimulus check. We decided to take this trip because we are looking to get our own house and we do not know when we'll ever get to get to go on vacation again. Some bigger bills the expected had come up and we decided to pay them rather then going into debt and so we canceled the trip. Everyone was very dissapointed, but we felt we had no chose. Then we had decided to go for christmas because my husband has that week off from work. We were all extremely excited to go and I even bought stuff for the trip and had started getting bags together to organize packing. Then this past week I started a new job. I was going to ask the director where I work if I could take the vacation, but the thing is that I have my son in daycare because I am working. If I do get to take the vacation it will be unpaid because I do not get my vacation time yet obviously. Then I will still have to pay for my son's daycare tuition which without my paycheck I can not afford. Now I have to cancel another disney trip. I am very sad because I really want to go and have been planning the details for a long time now! Plus my 4yr old had been getting very excited about the trip. I am thinking we can still go once I get my paid vacation from work, but it is making me crazy. I already bought everything for the trip, I guess I am just very dissapointed to say the least. I never expected for the job opportunity to come along and if I did not take it there was no garuntee that another one would come anytime soon since now a days job are hard to come by. Any advice on what I should do? My husband said he is fine with cancelling the trip, but I am so upset.
Have you told the kids you are going this time??? I don't know how you can tell them. Maybe you cna return the things you have and put it towards Christmas gifts along wiht the trip money that way yall will still have a great christmas with decorating and gifts. Then you and your hubby can jsut save for another trip and not tell the kids till you know for sure your going and that will be a nice supprise. But I wouldn't go if you can't afford to that will put you in debt.
It was clearly written when I signed all the paperwork for his enrollment that if he would not be attended the center for illness or vacation that you are still responsible to pay. It was like this were I used to work as well. Because otherwise they couldhave another paying child there.
Quoting MyahsMom:
Most daycares have vacation days written into their policies for this exact purpose. So that you can take a vacation without paying for days when your child isn't at daycare. Have you discussed this with them or asked about it?
