We just transitioned my son from a crib to a toddler bed last night so now he knows he can get in and out of bed. Well he still is in our room due to us needing to work on his room. Was planning on that this weekend. So I go to my room, my husband has gone to bed and my son is up and about. Well he got to my night stand and I left my pair of Diamond earings on the night stand and I noticed my watch and earings were missing. I found the watch but we can't find the earings. EITHER ONE! My husband and I have looked EVERYWHERE we can and have torn EVERYTHING apart that we can right now and still can't find them.

Is it possible for a 15 month old to swallow Diamond studded earings that are less than a half carret? I know they weren't the itty bitty ones. My question is what do I do? DO I call his Ped in the morning? Can he pass them? I'm just worried. I figured he'd choke on them first before swallowing them.

I'm praying to god he didn't swallow them and they are just somewhere we haven't looked yet. I don't care about the earings. I just want to make sure that he's safe.

*UPDATE* Just letting everyone know that my son did eat my earings but he passed them this morning. He is doing fine and acting like a normal little boy.

Thanks for the advice everyone gave me.

  • Noah has done that...he pooped them out a few days later but you can bet they didn't go back into my ears.  LOL

I wouldn't be too worried as long as he isn't acting like he is having abdominal pain and his bowels are moving.

  • He most likely did swallow them. It sounds like something a 15 month old would do. I wouldn't worry about it..just be looking carefully in his poopy diapers. You should find them there =)

  • Most Peds have a # you can call after hours and leave a message for an on call Dr. to call you back.  If you call thier reg. office # it should be on their message.  Then just ask what to do.

  • I would call the ped in the morning.  I would think a simple xray could tell you if they are in there or not.  Personally, I'd hate to look through every diaper between here and next week, never find them in there, and wonder if I missed them when the whole time they weren't even swallowed.  Besides, if the posts are sharp, they could tear something on the way out.
