We just transitioned my son from a crib to a toddler bed last night so now he knows he can get in and out of bed. Well he still is in our room due to us needing to work on his room. Was planning on that this weekend. So I go to my room, my husband has gone to bed and my son is up and about. Well he got to my night stand and I left my pair of Diamond earings on the night stand and I noticed my watch and earings were missing. I found the watch but we can't find the earings. EITHER ONE! My husband and I have looked EVERYWHERE we can and have torn EVERYTHING apart that we can right now and still can't find them.

Is it possible for a 15 month old to swallow Diamond studded earings that are less than a half carret? I know they weren't the itty bitty ones. My question is what do I do? DO I call his Ped in the morning? Can he pass them? I'm just worried. I figured he'd choke on them first before swallowing them.

I'm praying to god he didn't swallow them and they are just somewhere we haven't looked yet. I don't care about the earings. I just want to make sure that he's safe.

*UPDATE* Just letting everyone know that my son did eat my earings but he passed them this morning. He is doing fine and acting like a normal little boy.

Thanks for the advice everyone gave me.

  • That's what I would do.

I would call the ER and see what they say just to be on the safe side that could cut his throat, his tummy, and def his lil rear end

  • Take him to get xrays or ltrasounds or whatever you have to do for them to find out if he did

  • You definately need an X-Ray for him, sometimes these things will not pass on their own. Hopefully your son grabbed them and put them somewhere, and didn't eat them.

  • Well I called his Ped's office number for the on call Dr. And the Dr told me not to worry. That if he did swallow them that he would pass them. He also said that if I wanted to I could bring my son in today for an x-ray to see where they were at. Should I take him in for an x-ray? Also the Dr. told me a baby swallowed an open safety pin and passed that just fine. WOW!
