What do you think of nonoxynol-9 as a form of birth-control? Is it a good one? Are there any serious side effects? I've already googled it and read about it. Now, I just want answers from ladies who have actually used it! Thanks!!!

is that spermicide? if it is, i used to use it with my diaphragm. i didn't have any side-effects, but i've heard that you're at higher risk for UTIs and bacterial vaginosis.

it should be used as a second line of defense IMO. It's not effective enough to be used alone, but when used in conjunction with other barrier methods it will improve their efficacy.

We don't use it because we are both sensitive to it. If you've never used it before you may want to do a test run before the amour.

I have a friend that only uses this form of BC but if it's not very effective then I don't think it's for me. I'm terrified of getting pregnant again but do not want to get back on the pill because of some of the side effects and cancer risk. I have GOT to find something that works!!! I wish I could talk DH into getting a VASECTOMY! That would solve everything!!!!

I use VCF (spermicide foam), link here (please note, I have never ordered from this site, just found it for reference.)  Haven't noticed any side-effects from it, but am not certain of accuracy rate lol...just know I'm not pg :-)

I am a vaccinating, co-sleeping, occasionally allow my toddler to watch tv, CIO rejecting type of mommy.  I have been both a breastfeeder & bottlefeeder, flipped my kids' carseat when they hit a year and 25 lbs, and am married to my children's father.  We might have a difference of opinion.  However, I will respect your views, even if you do not respect mine.  This woman is a Bible-reader, NOT a Bible-thumper.  (It is difficult to read something when it is shoved down somebody's throat!)  If you have a problem with anything I suggest, say, or imply; or if you read my message backwards and receive subliminal messages, well, we can discuss the first problem.  Second one, you are on your own!  **The owners of this website are not responsible for views, opinions, or endorsements suggested by this member**

my dads girlfriend is a medicald assistant or technician and she said that as far as she knows there is no side effects and that it should be used with something else... not just it by itself

I used it for years and never got pregnant.  I have used it recently as well.
