Breast feeding questions....

I know they have a b/f group, but this group seems to have ALOT more active members then most I am on and usually get fast response. I formula fed my first and I decided to try breast feeding this time and I hope it goes well... So I was wondering, what kind of bottles do you use if you need to freeze milk? I heard playtex drop ins have the kind you freeze, has anyone use those? How long does breast milk last in the fridge and freezer? How do you thaw out Breast milk and how long does it take to thaw out? (I am only asking these cause I know I will have to pump because I am sure on our anniversary hubbys mom is watching Korbin and Julian (soon to be new baby) He will be almost 1 month old when she does, and I am determind to have him on breast milk and my boobs until he's 1 or 2..  I have never done this before so I am just wanting to go ahead and see what you think I have 2 months (or less) left!

HERE is a great site that may help you.

I used breast milk storage bags to store my breast milk in the freezer.

I used Medela bags, they were wonderful.

Be careful not to fill the bags all the way, as the milk expands as it freezes.

LOL, I learned that the hard way.  I like Medela products as well.

I pumped a lot because my breast milk supply was dwendling for some reason and as a last resort my lactation nurse told me to pump to get my supply up and boy did it!  I had a whole freezer full of milk!

My son took my milk from the breast and a bottle (which I am lucky)!  You should sign up for a breast feeding class as well.

I use the medela bags and bottles for freezing.

Per the Medela Magnet breastmilk can be stored as follows:

4 hours at Room Temp.

24 hours in a cooler with 3 frozen ice packs

5-7 days in the refrigerator

3-4 months in the freezer

6-12 months in the deep freezer

My daycare thaws breastmilk by placing it in a bowl of warm water.  It does not take long to thaw.
