Jardine Expands Recall of Cribs Sold by Babies“R”Us; Cribs Pose Entrapment and Strangulation Hazards

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Jardine Cribs

Units: About 56,450 (320,000 units were previously recalled in June 2008)

Manufacturer: Jardine Enterprises, of Taipei, Taiwan

Hazard: The wooden crib slats can break, creating a gap, which can pose an entrapment and strangulation hazard to infants and toddlers.

Incidents/Injuries: CPSC has received 19 additional incidents of crib slats breaking. In nine of these incidents, consumers reported that their infant or toddler broke the slat while in the crib. In addition, a 22-month-old child fell through the gap between the crib slats when a slat broke. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves three models of Jardine wooden cribs with the date codes identified below. Cribs with other date codes are not affected by this recall. The date code and model number are printed on the label located on the inside of the bottom rail of the headboard or footboard.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact Jardine to receive a full credit toward the purchase of a new crib. Jardine will provide consumers with detailed instructions for purchasing cribs in retail stores and online.

That is why I use a bassinet. I had a little one when she was a baby now I have one that converts into a playpen at the bottom with a changing table.

another crib recall? damn you'd think they'd do better safety checks on them ..seeing as babies sleep in them! 3 yrs ago the bottom of my oldests porta-crib fell off (while he was in it,thankfully he wasnt hurt) it took 6 months until they recalled it and i just found out my youngests simplicity crib was recalled UGH!!

My fiance is the supervisor of the furniture department at Babies r Us and he cant stand when there is crib recalls. He said these cribs arnt well made to begin with. Therefore we didnt get one when we bought ours, we got a basset south hampton and love it! they just need to stop making cribs.

Wow!! thank goodness he wasn't hurt!!!  there are too many crib recalls.. its crazy!!

my sons bed looks just like the last one just a different color... what would the color have to do with the way it is made?

                                                                                    our new baby is either going to be Keira Lynn or Ean (dont have middle name yet :)

I think it looks a little different  just check the model number and info to make sure it's not the same. but it looks a little different. is it  made by jardine?

They recall so many  baby things I had a simplicity bassinetthat got recalled. Strangulation hazard babies would fall through the side and hang because the bars were only big enough for there bodies to get through and not there head! YEAH and my baby slept in that thing! As a parent these days i do my own inspection on any baby thing that comes in this house i know I could miss something but I take an extra precaution. Teethers that choke babys or have lead paint its so scary these days!

It's true there are so many baby things that are not safe and we need to be careful and do research before buying anything. i had bought the infantino sling rider  for my baby and it was on recall Good thing i didn't use it that much befor i saw the recall!!! that ius very scary!!!
