I simply don't understand why some people don't use proper car safety. It's one of my biggest pet-peeves. I know we don't all agree on the rear-facing/forward-facing, booster seat or not issues, but when parents can't even use a seat belt, I personally think they are horrible parents. Unbelievably, in my state (Ohio), up until a year or two ago, children over age 4 and 40 lbs didn't even require a SEATBELT, let alone a harness or booster, as long as they were in the back seat. That's right, four year olds on up could be lose in the back seat and it was perfectly legal. Now, thank God, seatbelts are required on anyone 16 and under in the back seat (and anyone of any age in the front seat). They are also really close to making booster seats required up to age 8.
Of course, you still see those trashy parents all the time with their kids bouncing around in the back seat, completely unrestrained. I just saw one yesterday. There were two kids in the backseat - a little girl who looked about one was riding in a ff carseat and a little boy who couldn't have been any older than four was jumping all over the place. If I could've seen her license plate, I would've called the police.
What are you guys' thoughts on this? Are there any moms on here who do this and if so WHY? I don't care if the kid whines about it or takes it off! I'd pull over and re-buckle them every minute if I had to!

beats the hell out of me...
there are SO many parents who just want to stick their fingers in their ears and say "but we all survived"
That was damn luck, not because it was safe! We know better now, so we should do better

I agree with you. My kids always wear their seatbelts. They will remind anyone who gets in the car to put theirs on too. I had a friend who never made her son wear one and when he rode with me he would whine. I told him he could either wear one or I would take him home rather than the park or wherever I was taking them. She said it was easier to let him go without than to hear him whine. I won't put up with it though. I would rather be safe. It drives me crazy too to see kids bouncing and crawling and stuff all over the car.
i cannot stand that !!
even if you don't wear your seatbelt your kids should wear their's. risk your own life, not your child's cuz you're too lazy.
back with the love of my life =]
&& the truth is she doesn't know what she wants. all she knows is she's happiest with him<3
How about this one... a few weeks ago me and DH were driving in town and this car pulls out right in front of us. So DH gets into the other lane and when we go past the car there is an older man with a boy all of maybe 10 in his lap driving. OMG I was about to call 911 but we lost them in the Wal-Mart parking lot and I didn't get the plate number. I mean the kid was only on the road for about 100 yards but hell he almost hit us. UGH, some people have no brains!
