Stupid Effin husband hit me...I don't know what to do with him!!!!!!!

First off let me say my DH is a pretty wonderful man. He is a wonderful father to our little boy. He helps me ( usually) When I need it. We love each other and respect each other and he is not a violent man ( when he is awake) he is not physically abusive nor is he mentally abusive.

Now her is the problem, He has some sort of sleeping problem. Last night he slapped me in his sleep. I was just starting to fall asleep ( which for me is very hard for me to do ) and he just gets up and screams " GET OUT OF HERE!!!!"  and then he smacks me in the face. So I push him off the bed and he wakes up wondering whats going on, I tell him what he did and he did not believe me, until I show him the slap mark on my face and I kicked him out on the couch. This is not the first time he has done things like this. I don't let me DS go around him when he is sleeping, because one day I asked him to go wake daddy up and DH ended up pushing him of the bed because he freaks out ( let me just remind you that this is all in his sleep, other wise he would not have done that I know that for a fact). He once put me in a choke hold while we where asleep one night, He kept saying" oh you think you are going to get me, I don't think so. get away from us". I was like WTH. We spent the night over at a friends house one night and he went into their living room that morning and started to yell at every one to watch out for the snakes in the air. This is really creeping me out. I don't know what is going on with him, or what to do. Does anyone experience this problem with their DH , children or maybe yourselves? If so what has been done? I am at the point to where I am to scared to sleep in the same room with him. Is it legal to tie him down to the bed? IDK I am at a loss here.

Sounds like my hubby. When I wake him up I have to throw stuff at him or he swings. He doesn't realize it and he's never actually hit me.

This is some kind of emotional disorder. I've heard about this and I've also woken up in a headlock.

I'd take him to a sleep specialist to find out if there is anything that can be done about it.

Sounds like sleep terrors....he needs to go to the doctor ASAP, especially if he is getting violent.

Ouch. IDK, but here's a bump.

It almost sounds like dh's ptsd. BAD nightmares and reactions.

Wow, not really sure on that one, but the only thing I can suggest is to maybe have him seen by a sleep specialist or something. Hope you find the answer your looking for.

My dad had this problem. It was usually when he was really stressed out. Is this when it happens with your husband? My dad actually gave my mom a black eye once in his sleep. He wasn't a violent guy at all and my mom would actually joke about it. You could here him yelling clear across the house. Usually it was about guys stealing from him. (He owned his own mechanic shop and had a lot of cars.)

I think he should see his doctor, it's sounds like some sort of sleep disorder.

Sounds  like he has a sleeping problem and cant control these outbursts. Maybe you should get advice from a doctor on how to control them.

Make him see a sleep specialist.  In the mean time it might not be a bad idea to sleep in separate beds.
