On average how much did your newborn eat?

Each feeding mine son will eat two ounces every two hours and at times he will still be hungry. To me, that seems like a lot, my oldest son would eat an ounce every two hours. maybe an ounce and a half. So how much on average did/does your newborn eat?

When my daughter was born I had to pump breast milk so I actually knew exactly how much she was getting.  At first she was drinking a couple of oz every couple of hours.  Then at about 3 weeks she jumped to 4 oz every 3 hours.  She was a great eater.  In less than 3 weeks she went from 6lbs 5oz to over 8 1/2 lbs.  She's now 2 and not a big girl, but definitely solid:)

Thanks..now I don't feel so bad. I was thinking that I was over feeding him. My oldest has never been a big eater and I was thinking that 2 oz or more was way too much, I wasn't sure.

my youngest would take about 5oz when she was born and wanted more so i started putting rice cereal in her formula and then she was fine and she still eats like there is no tomorrow

My son did that just add about a teaspoon of rice cereal to each feeding to fill him up a little more.

my dd nursed every two hours for only 10 minutes, sometimes longer.  i used to think she was starving to death, lol, new mom jitters.  the pediatrician said some babies just suck it down faster than others, some like to take their time.

I'm not sure how many ounces, my boobs didn't come with those nifty lines lol.  But he ate for a good 30 minutes every 2 hours until he was 6 months old.

My 7 month old son has always been a little piggy.  From birth until he was 3 months old, he ate 4-6 ounces every 2 hours.  He then went up to 8 ounces every 3-4 hours from 3-6 months.  Now, he drinks 3-4 8 ounce bottles per day and eats 3 meals.  Every baby is different and you don't need to worry about over feeding until they start on solid foods.  At this age they will stop when they're full.
