Okay..... Think back to your Driver's Ed days........

When parking on a hill, which ways do you turn your wheels???

Parking down hill, you point your wheels towards the curb, so if the parking break slips, the car will roll forward, being stopped by the curb, Right???

AND MORE IMPORTANTLY!!!!   When parking uphill, you turn your wheel AWAY from the curb, so if the brakes slip, the car will start backward, but the curb will stop the car with the front wheels, Right??   (I remember my Driver's Ed teacher saying "up, up and away"...)   Right??

I know this sounds stupid, but we have this arguement every week when we park in front of my parent's house for 8 freaking years now!!!...........

So.....   I am sure I am right, I just need to PROVE to him that I am right!!  LOL!!!!

What do you remeber from Driver's Ed???

You sound right, wish I had my Drivers ed book, but I think you are right, it makes sense. You could always "safely" test it out.

I don't park on a lot of hilly streets, but I think you are right.

I actually don't remember, but if common sense has anything to do with it, I would say that they should be pointed towards the curb if you are facing up a hill. If they are pointed towards the curb, you'll roll and back into the curb, stopping the car. If they are pointing towards the road, the only way the curb will stop the car is if you're super close to the curb. You could be wrong, but I'm not a driving instructor so I'm not sure. Maybe up up and away meant away from the road.
