Tomorrow we are taking my 7 year old DD to get her eyes checked. She sometimes complains she cant see very good. so i was wondering what a good place was that did the test AND had nice (but reasonably priced) kids glasses. Also a place that has nice adult glasses too...i need to replace my glasses that my 7 year old broke when she was 1 LOL. i'm not blind, i just cant see real far.

i was thinking the super walmart eye place. what do you all think?

Costco is a good place. You can also try Target.

Walmart is good. Get the prescription and there is a site where glasses are $8 each. DH has ordered from there before. I will find the link and post it if you want!

I would take her to an Opthamologist, rather than one of those "chains" where they only have Optometrists. An Opthamologist will check for the reason she is having problems, and Optometrist will only check to see IF she is having a problem. There is not a full exam. I took my DD to one of the "chains" and they gave her a prescription for reading glasses. When I took her to the Opthamologist, he ran many more tests and she really only needed glasses to see the blackboard, not for reading close which is what the other place gave her glasses for.  If you have insurance the Opthamologist is the way to go. They actually have gone to Medical School, not just a trade school.

Honestly, I wouldn't go to most places at the mall.  I'd look for a place with an opthamologist, along with the optometrist.  The difference is this:  an optometrist can fit you for glasses, but an opthamologist can write Rx's for medications and is a full-fledged eye DOCTOR.  Big difference.  If you get a scratched cornea, or pinkeye, or anything like that - you will need an opthamologist and an optometrist won't be able to help you.  So I'd choose a place in a medical/professional building that has both.

Good luck and peace,

Kat
