I really don't get it.   I really don't care if you choose to view it in your own home that's your business but I work at a library and there is a 20 page list of people that were banned from our computer lab for viewing it.  I just had to kick someone out for that and I had to get help because he wouldn't leave and he was threatening me.  I mean really what do you do after, go to the public restrooms and jack off.  Children come in here!  It's against our policies to view porn, everyone knows that the rules are posted everywhere.  Please don't misunderstand me, this isn't another post about why porn is wrong or right.  But people should be appreciative that they can use our computers and also realize that although they can use them these are not their own personally computers nor is the library their private home.

I agree...my mom works at the library here and they have had to put filter after filter on their computers to keep them from that stuff on there.

ITA...We were in the library the other day and there was a kid that looked to be about 13 looking at porn.  Funny thing was that he was at one of four computers that face the circulation desk and thats by the front door, so anyone that came in or that was checking out books could see what he was looking at.  I'm not sure what happened with him, I hope he got kicked out or banned.  Thank goodness my daughters weren't with my DH, 6 month old son and I when we were there, or they'd have seen it too!

I don't know why people have a problem following basic rules.  Several years ago, I was in college and everyone knew someone was accessing porn in the computer lab, but no one could ever catch the guy.  One time, I was in there and suddenly 3 or 4 people including the security guard surround some old guy and order him off the computer.  He makes a scene, yelling about how when he enrolled, he was told that he would have access to college computers, etc.  They had to practically drag him out screaming and then several workers took the computer.  I don't know if he was looking at something illegal (kiddy porn?) or what, but the whole thing was bizarre.  It was like, "what, you just signed up for college for free access to porn?"

and that's what I mean.  It's so sad because i think that it's great that kids can get on the computers for school and do research and we provide so much for the children here but because people do things like that parents think twice before letting their kids come here.  they really ruin it for every one else.
