Guess what my private sitter did?

My DD is 6 months old and has been going to a private sitter since she was 8 weeks old. This lady keeps three toddlers and my DD full time and another little girl my DD age once a week. Well this past Thursday the Mom of the other little girl that only stays once a week called me at work on Friday to let me know what happended when she got to the sitters house on Thursday to pick up her little girl. She got off work a little early so of course got to the sitters house about 30 minutes early. Keep in mind that the sitter just lost her son-in-law on Monday night, well the other Mom walked in the house and did not see the two babies in the living room so she knew that they were still asleep in the beds so she prceeded down the hall way to where she knew her daughter would be sleeping. Well halfway down the hall the sitter comes out of her bedroom and rushes into the little girls room because she heard the Mom come in and opens the bedroom door. You will never believe what this Mom saw. Her little girl who is only 5 months old was strapped in her carseat with a towel tied around her neck holding her bottle in her mouth. The little girl could not have spit the bottle out of her mouth even if she tried. So of course once this other Mom called me to tell me what had happended I went over there right away and took my DD out of her care. Well comes to find out that for about two months now  this lady hasn't even been feeding my DD rice cereal. RRRRRRRRR...... I am so upset.

Both my daughter and my friends daughter are just fine but neither one are under the care of this lady any longer and are both in good hands at last. I just wanted to share with you all as a reminder that it is not a bad thing to suprise your sitter by arriving early once in a while just to see what happens when you arive unexpected.

That is just awful.  It's a good thing that lady went early to pick up her child!

Cases like that are why I used a center.  There were always plenty of adults around to know what was going on.

This is why I choose day care, and the one I am using has video cameras so I can "check In"  Scary stuff!

I would be pressing charges or something! That is horrible. It sucks that she just lost her son in law, but if she doesn't feel up to taking care of the kids, then just take some time off. At least call the local news company and tell everyone not to go to her.

I hear this a lot (I work for a child care referral agency)

Webcams don't stop bad things from happening, it just means you can watch them as the do...

Was she a licensed child care provider registered with the state? If she is licensed this should be reported! That is totally unacceptable! What if that baby started choking on milk and needed air? Thank goodness you were informed of what the other Mom observed!

OMG.. that is awful.

That is why I am so grateful that my DH works his ass of so that I can stay home with my DD.

I hope that lady gets punished some how. That poor baby could have choked!

I am seriously disgusted
