Grammar question for all you smart Mommies!

If your child's name ends in S and you want to show possession, do you still add an apostrophe s or just an apostrophe. For example my dd's name is Rhys. Would you write Rhys's toy or Rhys' toy? This is probably a silly question but I would really like to know.

I'm not sure but I think either one is acceptable.  They drop the second "s" because it's hard to say Rhys's.

I always wandered that too but I THINK ( I am not sure) it's and s and apostrophe. I had a friend named Jess. He said it was Jess'

 Just add the apostrophe.

I believe if the word is singular (like your dd's name), then you add the apostrophe and the s--if the word is plural, then you just use the apostrophe....I could be wrong, but I think that's the rule...

I tend to agree.. I think it's still Rhys's toy.  But for plural... I think it's mommies' toys.

's - shows possession to that single someone or something

s' - shows possession of more than one
