Question about counting calories

My mom and I have been dieting since Jan. and we have been counting total calories and fat calories together,are the fat calories in addition to the total calories? Please help we are confused...Thanks!

as far as i know all calories are the same. i'm trying to lose weight too.

You count the total calories, since the fat calories are included in that.

no. if it says "calories 200 and the fat calories 100" 100 of those 200 calories is from fat
