I had an ultrasound yesterday at 38 weeks and the baby measured 39 weeks and 7 lbs 5 oz. I'm 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. So, the dr scheduled an induction for next Tuesday. I'm hoping she decides to come on her own before then because I'm really nervous about being induced. I've heard it's much more intense. What was your experience like?
I was told it would be much more intense and hurt a lot worse....it didnt hurt at all. Im like umm where are these contractions from hell everyone is always talking about? lol It didnt work for me at all, the broke my water, after over 24 hours I finally had my son, you would think with him being my forth child it would have worked and gone a lot faster.
I have been induced 3x because I make big babies. All 3 were easy, and I liked the fact that everything was controlled. But that's me.

Induced at 38 weeks but i think that I was farther along than that. On pitocin for 29 hours before I asked for epidural. I had been having contractions for 26 of those hours and the final 2 hours was 1 looong contraction. I started to panic because I couldn't catch my breath since there was no wane of the contraction. I delivered at 32 hours. All my pain was centered in my lower back. The only thing that helped was a bag of rice sewn into a cloth and heated. I would suggest that you try to hold off for 2 more weeks. You can safely go up to 42 weeks as long as the baby isn't in any trouble.
I was induced... if I had to do it again I would have declined it because it was not medically necessary

Ugh, I wouldn't recommend it at all. If I knew what I did now, I would have told the doctor NO! She pushed the induction, granted I was 1 week late BUT still there was no signs of baby in stress and I was perfectly healthy.
It was horrible from start to finish and ended up in a C-section, which a lot of inductions do. The pain was SO BAD and the medicine they put me on was upped and then dropped so my labor was not natural at all.
Just a bad experience all together. I say if you are healthy and the baby is just fine, wait it out!
I was induced with my son. I was hoping he would decide to show up before then, but it didnt happen. It actually wasnt too bad. They got me started, my doctor came a little later to break my water, and once I started having contractions, they gave me an epidural and a few hours later my son was born. My experience was very easy. Other moms might have different stories. Good luck to you!
I was induced due to high blood pressure, but both of us had major problems and apparently almost died, so my dr did an emergency c-section and I delivered a 6lb 11oz baby

my water broke at 35 weeks...so they induced me with pitocin..it was nothing at all..there is no reason to be afraid..its actually a better way (for me it was) of knowing that you are actually going to feel whats going on and you wont be surprised by it..you know what i mean..
