We went to the cemeteries yesterday.  We go with my mother, and put flowers on our family members graves..yesterday we visited 15 graves...my mother was saying how when they were kids they would make a day of it, cleaning off the stones..etc. Does anyone still do this?

I do. But for a more personal reason. I have a small family and only 1 death my whole life. Which happened on Memorial Day and so I go for him. But since I have been in the Service myself I do take more time for all those I never knew.

We did when I was a kid.  I don't anymore.  The best memorial day for me was spent in Washington D.C.  seeing all the monuments and especially the Vietnam wall covered in gifts from family members was really eye opening.  I wish everyone could experience that.

Every single year when I was a kid, and I do it still to this day.

You dont have to go to the cemetary to honor veterans, they are all around us, take a veteran and give him or her a special treat, take a veteran out for dinner, and just say, THANK YOU!!!  they will appreciate it!!
