My five year old DD is a good kid. She has a short attention span. Somebody told me that karate will help her to listen, has anyone ever had experience with this. Is it worth looking into? Or would any kind of outside activity help. I am trying to increase her attention span.

Karate or martial arts teaches A LOT of discipline. You are tested on your ability to follow directions and rewarded with a belt. The best part is it is based soley on how the child is doing not as a team. My husband did martial arts most of his life and is working on his instructor status. When it comes to some other sports and a lot of team sports it isnt as strict and child focused. Ballet, martial arts and other child focused activities should help. Yet I have seen martial arts really help.
