Does anyone honestly think joining the military is a waste of a life????? Personaly i just don't get it. If no one was in the militarty there would be no one to defend us and we americans would easily be wiped out!

FOR THOSE THAT DON'T GET IT I DO NOT THINK THAT THE MILITARY IS A WASTE OF A LIFE. I THINK IT IS BENIFICAL TO SOMEONE AND TO OUR ENTIRE NATION. I THINK THEY SHOULD GET HIGHER PAY, AND ALL IN ALL BE TREATED BETTER THEN WHAT THEY ARE BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY DO! MY BROTHER WAS A NAVY SEABEE AND IF MY SON EVER JOINS I WILL BE THE PROUDIST MOTHER IN THE WORLD.

  • This is for the girl who thinks I am disrespectfull for posting this.

I wrote this for a friend who had died overseas

    To those back home

    I am gone
yet my memory will go on
kiss the kids I love them so
let them know I had to go
Tell my parents there are no regrets
to those who I fought beside
    who came from nation wide
you are all my brothers and sisters
to my bride brush those tears aside
I am here so far yet so near
I am all around in the sky and in the ground
    I am in our kids
    in your heart
    my love caries on
when u need me look to the sky
    let your mind fly
I will be there holding your hand
    goodbye to those I love
we will meet again one day
we will play in the heavens above

  • Basic is supposed to be hell, you're supposed to get treated poorly, they are training you, yes that is really what training consists of. I dont know WHY his daughter isn't getting benefits yet because THEY SHOULD so either he didnt do his paper work correctly or at all at the recruting station, or he didnt get his paper work in at basic. but there is no reason why they shouldn't be covered. they probaly have kept him there b/c of the extent of his injury, i dont really think you can just fly someone home who has had surgery on their hip like that, he has to get better first, they are looking out for him even though you dont feel like they are.

and to the op, i am not narrow minded, you are for not seeing why this hurts military spouces and moms. and you still didnt answer my question!

  • If he'd gone in any other branch he would have graduated. I'm very disappointed that my granddaughter has and will never get any benefits. They were supposed to send them too but my son still doesn't even have an ID himself! What's really bad is I also have a son depped into the Navy and he won't be going to basic until Sept. but he already has a military ID! And I am not happy he's going into the military but it is his life to destroy!

    Quoting Addiemom:

I am sorry about your son! I am surprised with a severe injury they aren't letting him come home. I know some guys "got out" with severe injuries but others with "smaller injuries" had to stay in. I know when my hubby would call from basic it sounded HORRIBLE. But, he said that there is always yelling going on and no big deal. And I'm surprised at the insurance. We had insurance while hubby was in basic. I got all the papers sent to me and just had to go to a local base or office to get my id. I hope everything works out okay. Hang in there! The military is honestly not a bad place, even though basic is Hell.

    Quoting TarotMommy:

What am I so upset about? My son has been at bootcamp for months with a severe injury and they are in fact treating him horribly!!!! The platoon he is stuck in is EXTREMELY depressing. They are fighting over a fracking sink! My ex is a federal law enforcement officer and I know for a fact that federal prisoners are treated better than my son is right now. When he gets to make a phone call it sounds horrendous in the background! There is absolutely no DI that gives a frack anymore and his recruiter doesn't give a frack about him anymore either! Not one FRACK there cares about him anymore! Although he's been there for months he's still only considered a recruit and has been treated like one even though he was squad leader and finished his damned run in record time with a severely fractured hip that may be fracked up the rest of his life! (He had to have 3 pins and 21 staples in his hip) My granddaughter still has  absolutely NO benefits and just gets a broken daddy when he does finally get to come home! That's what pisses me off the most is he was trying to take care of his daughter! The lying recruiter said she would get benefits right after he got to bootcamp. Fracking lier!!!!

    Quoting anikahaynes1:

Wow i assure you they are taken care of at bootcamp, esp if they are injured, what exactly are you so upset about. what is making you think ppl in prison are getting treated better? and btw the mail at boot camp takes FOREVER to get threw to them, and yes they WILL with hold it from you to be mean, or whatever, but they eventually give it to you. and if this is all over some mail then seriously. my husband said every time he got a letter from me they made him do push ups, its just what happens in basic.

    Quoting TarotMommy:

My son is limbo right now at a bootcamp where he was severely injured during training so YES it is a fracking waste!!!!!!! Still don't know what the frack is gonna happen to his life and he's been there for fracking months! Rapists and murderers in a federal prison have it better than he does right now! MFer's can't even get his fracking mail to him!

  • Ok quit being silly, you cant gaurnteee that he wouldnt have gotten hurt at basic in any other branch of the service. and yo uknow when it starts getting towards the end of the fiscal year they cant ship ppl out to basic as fast as tehy can at the begining, so that is probalby why your other son hasn't left yet. and hes not destorying his life. accidents happen, his DI's didnt purposfully hurt him, and neither did anyone else they'd get in trouble for that.

  • my best friend broke her tail bone in basic...shes still there... he is not technically in the army yet though at basic if he hasnt gotten an id theres a reason. If they where to send him home maybe he wouldnt get the care. They are supposed to break you down and build you up it made my husband who was an angry teenager going in a civilized respectful man. I knw its hard and you being mommy want him home. Btw if he doesnt evgen have a id and they are considering him a recruit then that may be why they have no benifits. once hes done healing and isnt a recruit anymore then the benifits will probably start. and OP i dont think your disrespecting us asking the question i know what you are doing and i understand i often wonder what people who think differently then me are honestly thinking.

  • Yeah THEY SHOULD but they haven't and they won't!!! HELLO!!!! And they are absolutely NOT looking out for his best interests or else they would do what they said they would do in the first place! And you don't have to be so condensending and they have no intentions of flying him home when he gets his released. He has to pay for his own FRACKING plane ticket or take a bus (picture that!) but we are going to make the 11 fracking hour drive to go get him ourselves which will come out of our own fracking pocket!!!!
