Local News 8 Reporter

POCATELLO - Pocatello fire fighters say they now know what caused a fire to start Saturday night at a home on the west side of town. Division Chief Dave Gates says a three-year-old was playing with either matches or a lighter and started the fire. Gates says the fire happened at 837 West Fremont around 6:30 p.m. A husband and wife and their two kids, ages three and six, all made it out of the home safely. There is extensive fire damage to one of the bedrooms where the fire started and the reminder of the four-plex home has water and smoke damage. The landlord is working with the four tenants of the complex to find them places to stay while the home is remodeled.

I hope not, at 630 pm? But accidents happen. Just like sometimes your kid can get into your purse and take out some medicines or something. People just need to be more careful and be thankful everyone is OK

it's hard telling where they were....you can't keep an eye on them every second of the day....kids are quicker than you think.....glad they all made it out safely....

How the hell did the child get a lighter or matches? We used to smoke and not once was a lighter left where a child could get it.
