so im about to endure a huge lifestyle change im trying to prepare and need some ?'s answered, can anyone tell me the rules as to what u can send to your loved ones when they are in army bootcamp?...i know you can send letters but is there anything else u can send?....and what about ait, it it just letters or how will they get the things they need ie..essentials stamps envelopes to write back etc..thanks alot
When my ds was in boot camp I could not send him anything BUT stamps/envelopes/letters. My dh did boot camp decades b4 I met him so idk about how it used to be, all I know is how it was in '06. Sorry I can't beof more help.
You can send pictures (non-pornographic)...you can send cards...like birthday/Valentines Day...stamps, calling cards...you should be able to send socks...bug spray...toothpaste and stuff like that...but most things he will be able to buy if he needs it.
You don't want to send magazines, food, candy, cigarettes, suggestive photos, cell phones, etc.
You should be able to visit the website for the base he is going to and see what is and is not allowed.
I think they only allow necessities like PP have said. My MIL sent candy and the drills took it and locked it up. I know they used the stocked up candy for rewards though.

just wondering if i could send him small scrapbooks like little homemade albums with pics of the kids and family and small colorings that my children do ext..so you can send calling cards but i thought that they cant call in bootcamp?
They usually get phones on Sunday, unless they get it taken away from some reason.
i send music cards, pictures, stamps, and letters, that is about all he can have. Though when his dog tag chain broke i was able to send him another one. they get there esentials at the PX. DH has been gone for 65 days, all i can say is good luck! if you have any more questions you can pm me if you want there are some great groups on here too.

Mine got to call about every other week on a Friday for 2 min. But it all depends, some boot camps are more strict then others and they change over time. My hubby went to boot at Ft. Jackson

They usually get to call once a week. Sundays. Unless they get in trouble. Its like a 2 minute phone call...and as time goes on they get more time.
WOW, Army boot and Marine Corps boot is TOTALLY different.. they get no phone calls AT ALL, and you cant sedn them anything but letters PERIOD or they get hazed..
gotta love being in the ARMY.
