In our house I manage all the finances.  So if anyone is "asking" for money, it's him asking me.

  • not in the sense of the same way a child has to ask. He makes the money and handles the finances. So if I ask for it, it's really asking if we have the money to spend. Plus we never carry cash hardly ever. We have a debit card.

  • I don't have to ask for money, and for small things I don't. But I do ask if I can get bigger items, etc. He does the same, out of respect.

  • I only ask when it is for the baby. I would not ask for money for personal stuff like nails, clothes, unless The baby needed clothes. His father will pay for all of the things the baby needs, foods, clothes, pacifiers, toys, juice, diapers, wipes, lotion, bath stuff, medicine, gas drops, anything the baby might need.

  • I think there should be an option for "we jointly decide how to use/ spend money".

Neither of us purchase anything without the others consent. That way we both no where money is being spent.

I do. Even though he always says yes, I still ask him if its ok that I go buy a shirt, or go get an outfit for DD.

  • We are a plastic family!  We have debit and credit cards that get used on a regular basis.  I almost never carry cash on me.  I do the shopping most of the time for the family, clothes, food, etc. So while I don't really ask I at least let him know that hey, I'm taking the kids shoe shopping today.  Every month we go over card statements so we know where the money is going.  We do consult each other on big purchases though so there aren't any surprises.  Even though I am not in charge of finances so to speak, I do make sure that all of the bills get paid on time!

  • My husband and I are a team. Every decision we make is talked over...well, ok not every, but, you get my understanding. We communicate. One of the reasons why I love him.
