What city is this? I would love to look that up for myself. It may be b/c of an animal.

  • This was most likely in relation to a dog. In most cities if you do not vaccinate your dog you can get arrested.

In Omaha if you have a Pit you can be arrested for not having the required $100,000 in liability insurance for your dog.

  • This.

    Quoting Hybrid:

I am thinking that it is probably about an animal. The woman is probably owner of a dog that potentially bit, and was arrested because the lady failed to have the dog properly vaccinated or proof of.

I doubt it is in any relation to children.

  • This varies by state and is usually outlined in the homeschooling law.  In my state of PA, my kids must be vaccinated even though they are homeschooled.  An exemption is available but the reasons are so slim that I won't be able to claim one unless I lie and find someone (a pastor or doctor) to lie along with me.  I think it *should* be as you stated but for now many states have mandated otherwise...it sucks.

    Quoting celticreverie:

nothing needed. vaccines are "manditory" only for public schools/gov't funded daycares, and private schools etc. exemptions aren't necessary if you aren't going into any of those places.

    Quoting CrozCryz:

I would say it's probably pet related... since it's against the law to not have proof of current shots.  A child wouldn't even be allowed in public school without proof of shots or exemption forms... however, question for anyone who may know, what about homeschooled children?

  • In Pennsylvania we have religious and medical exemptions for not vacinating but we do not have a philosophical exemption. Meaning you can not refuse to vacinate because you don't believe it in or don't want to or think it is the cause of autism.

It is my understanding that due to the separation of church and state parents do not have to show affiliation to a religious group by proving regular attendance or even membership, but rather they need to confirm that you share in their beliefs.  Just in case anyone is planning this line of attack, please know that (even though you may look great in black!), contrary to popular belief, the Amish do vacinate their children. You'll have to pursue Christian Scientist, Jehovah Witness.

Medically, any child allergic to eggs is automatically exempt due to the fact that many of the vacines are made with the protein from eggs, also asthma and certain neurological disorders will disqualify vacinations.

  • That is what was said in the news but actually all the children were truant too. If the parents had their exemptions in order the "vaccine debate" would not have entered the media.

Actually, a court in Maryland threatened parents with jail time for not vaccinating their children. It wouldn't surprise me at all actually.
