or something of the equivalent.
Last night was a busy night. Originally, the weather said it would rain today, so, we decided to go ahead and cook out last night. By the time we cooked, ate and I cleaned up, it was getting late. About an hour past the girls' typical bath time. So, we go upstairs, run the bath water, put them in, and they're playing fine. I take this opportunity to straighten up the bathroom counter (that DH just throws everything on), so,my back is turned to them. Suddenly, my 2 year old screams out in pain! I turn around and blood is pouring down her thumb all over her hand. I call DH (who is cleaning the grill), yelling for him to get upstairs. He helped the 5 year old get out. She goes to get dressed while DH and I deal with the youngest. Poor Maddy is so upset, not wanting us to touch her, but, we're trying to get pressure on it to stop the bleeding. She finally calms down, lets DH wrap thick gauze around her thumb and tape it. He told me to go sit with her at the computer to calm her down and get her dressed while he figures out how she got cut.
He comes in the room, I asked what done it...MY razor! The previous night, I shaved and left my razor on the lower bathtub shelf, purely on accident (of course) and was in such a hurry last night, forgot to move it.
After I got Maddy to sleep, I sat at the computer and bawled! I felt so bad! I am the reason my poor baby cut herself. Don't get me wrong, I know they're gonna get hurt, but, to know that it was my mistake that caused her to get hurt, that made me feel like hell.
Please, if you feel the need to bash, take it elsewhere, I feel bad enough as it is and just needed to vent out to someone about it this morning.
I could so be in your shoes some days...
Usually I remember to take my razor out of the shower with me (we have suction cup razor hangers on our mirror), but some days I simply forget. Usuaally if I do, my oldest will pick it up and hand it to me, but my youngest would just play with it if no one were paying attention. It's a simple mistake mama - don't get down on yourself too hard.
I've totally left my razors w/in my children's reach - a FEW times!! STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!! Luckily they're never gotten hurt...nonetheless it makes me wanna punch myself for being so forgetful.
But...these things happen Mama! HUGS!!! You're not alone, by any means!
Don't be so hard on yourself. This same thing happened to my daughter. I too felt awful, but it ended up looking a lot worse than it was. My daughter is now six and she doesn't even remember it anymore. It did teach me a valuable lesson though. And for anyone that would bash a mother for making such a simple mistake--they need to get a reality check.![]()
I know exactly how you feel, I would have freaked out too. I have to move all the razors when my son gets int he tub because that seems to be the frist thing he will grab for when entering the tub. I hope she is okay and you're a good momma, don't worry, things happen :)
i did this ONCE. i left it on the tub itself.. and i was cleaning the toilet.. i turn around and she had blood dripping everywhere... and didnt notice. i tried not to make a big deal about her slicing her thumb.. and put a bandaid on it.. and let me tell you... that was over a year ago.. i have not made that mistake EVER again. its scary to think what could have happen.. ya know? ahhh. i feel for ya mama. jst be glad it was just her thumb

My mom left her razer down I was 5 yrs old and I want to shave my legs I did one leg and it bleed I had a wash cloth my my can in and asked what happen I said I wanted to shave at the time the scar was big but now its not so big .
(((hugs))) It was a mistake don't be so hard on yourself.
I've left mine down low, thankfully I've caught it in time to prevent one of the kids from getting hurt. You've reminded me to be more careful.
(((hugs))) again.
Unfortunatly accidents happen, your lo will learn from it believe me , once i was ironing (used to be a requirment about 15 years ago) well i tell me dd HOT everytime but it wasnt until she touched it that she learned the meaning of hot, dont worry your lo dont blame you so dont be so hard on yourself.
Aw it's okay Momma! We all make mistakes. There are times I gave my son a bath and realize at the last minute that I forgot to take it out, but I have always caught it before he even see's it.
It can happen to anyone. I am sure you feel horrible, but don't be too hard on yourself. Just give her lots of hugs and kisses today :)
