or something of the equivalent.
Last night was a busy night. Originally, the weather said it would rain today, so, we decided to go ahead and cook out last night. By the time we cooked, ate and I cleaned up, it was getting late. About an hour past the girls' typical bath time. So, we go upstairs, run the bath water, put them in, and they're playing fine. I take this opportunity to straighten up the bathroom counter (that DH just throws everything on), so,my back is turned to them. Suddenly, my 2 year old screams out in pain! I turn around and blood is pouring down her thumb all over her hand. I call DH (who is cleaning the grill), yelling for him to get upstairs. He helped the 5 year old get out. She goes to get dressed while DH and I deal with the youngest. Poor Maddy is so upset, not wanting us to touch her, but, we're trying to get pressure on it to stop the bleeding. She finally calms down, lets DH wrap thick gauze around her thumb and tape it. He told me to go sit with her at the computer to calm her down and get her dressed while he figures out how she got cut.
He comes in the room, I asked what done it...MY razor! The previous night, I shaved and left my razor on the lower bathtub shelf, purely on accident (of course) and was in such a hurry last night, forgot to move it.
After I got Maddy to sleep, I sat at the computer and bawled! I felt so bad! I am the reason my poor baby cut herself. Don't get me wrong, I know they're gonna get hurt, but, to know that it was my mistake that caused her to get hurt, that made me feel like hell.
Please, if you feel the need to bash, take it elsewhere, I feel bad enough as it is and just needed to vent out to someone about it this morning.
I have accidentally left mine out where my son could get it, I caugt him right as he was trying to put it in his mouth(he was teething)I freaked out and so did DH, but we got it from him without hurting him and I haven't left it down since.
For five years, I've been lucky ---I have two girls 4.5 and 2.8 yrs old and the younger girl finally cut her finger 3 wks ago with the razor tip and bawled. I've told the girls a million times to leave the drawers alone. I think the younger one just got access and tried to check it out.
What a nasty mistake for her but she is okay, no ER visit etc. She learned a lesson.
my razors have plastic protective coverings but I haven't left them in the bath, YET.I'm sorry it happened. :(
My DH sliced her fingers in a corn grinder though..We were at a fall festival and they had these big boxes filledw/ corn. Well on one side there was an old fashion grinder thing, that removed the kernals from the corn. Becka and Kennedy (friend's daughter) were ine the box playing with the corn, on the opposite end of the grinder. the husbands were watching. I get back and Becka's screaming and bleeding. She reached into the grinder while alex was grinding.
It wasn't bad, no broken fingers, but lots of blood. poor thing. Dh felt terrible forever. :/
My son did the same thing. I left my razor on the bathroom counter, and I thought it was out of his reach...I was wrong. He grabbed it and put it in his mouth, and I about flipped out! I make sure if it is not being used it is in the cabinet now!

My son hasn't cut himself with it, but he HAS gotten ahold of both my and DH's razors. It was an accident. She'll be ok. Try not to blame yourself.

Then Now

That happened once when my son was almost 3. I was cleaning the bathroom, he was playing in there, and I never even saw him grab it. : ( But no scars left, and I doubt he remembers. And now I'm anal about doing a razor check when the kids are in the bathroom : )

don't sweat it, that's happened to me. And just about every other mother or know.

Something very similar happened! I left my razor on the tub(usually it's up really high.
DS was in the bathroom with me while I was putting in my contacts. I turned around and I see him with my razor, trying to shave his legs! I almost died. Thankfully, he didn't cut himself. I felt horrible because he def could've gotten hurt or hurt my DD.
ANyway, I'm sure you feel like crap. It happens sometimes....we're not perfect.
Not yet. We have a shower downstairs and thats where my DH and I shower so my razor is down there. The bathtub is upstairs and thats where DS gets his bath.
After being gone a few days w/DS, I noticed that my razor was on the seat thing in he shower. It must have fallen b/c it has a suck cup on it so it sticks to the wall. I reminded DH that he needs to stick it back up right away so DS doesn't get in the shower and play with it.
While away, DS got a bath and my in law reminded me to move the razors of hers so DS doesn't get them. I forgot and less than 5 minutes later he went for them but she noticed and took them away from him.
i giggled... just a little.
i know.. i'm terrible... but guess what?
IF THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT THAT CHILD EVER HAS, IS THAT SHE CUT HERSELF ON YOUR RAZOR... THEN YOU ARE DOING BETTER THAN MOST OF US MOM! lol
accidents happen. you were distracted... it happens to the best of us.
it is not, a bash worthy moment... really isn't! shit happens man. you did not leave the child unattended... you turned and cleaned the counter. it happens mom. next time you will just be that more vigilant about removing things like your venus razor! lol
bet she doesn't try to shave her thumb again! i'm thinking... she may have learned a little lesson about touching it.
