For about 4 days my 5yr. old all he has been doing is laying around wining. He has speech delay so he really can't explain whats going on all he tells me when i ask "I'm sick." well he doesn't have any symptoms that i can see. He could be too hot because its hotter then what we are us too, but he usually still wants to go swimming and he hasn't wanted to do that either. Do u think he is depressed or maybe he is sick? I just don't know.

Oh one more thing he hasn't wanted to eat either.

  • Can you think of ANY changes in his environment? A friend moved, a pet died, a toy got lost, anything..... My son sometimes seems depressed too, and he turned 6 yesterday. I think it is because of the custody change that took place last year, and I feel awful about it. Could it be something like that?

I have been thinking about that myself. I really can't think of any changes. I have been making him sleep in his own bed because he was getting in the habit of falling a sleep on the couch. That is the only thing I cna think of.

My son not either one of those. He does have hearing loss and sever speech delay so sometimes he get angry or quiet when ppl don't understand him. I don't think this is teh issue though.

  •  I would say he probably just has a little virus or something. If no major changes have happened in his life then I wouldn't think depression is an issue. He could be just frustrated from the speech delay and all. I would give it another day or two and then call the doctor if it doesn't get better.

  • I don't know what it can be, but about the depression. Yes, my son was 4 when his father passed and he was diagnosed with ADHD & Major depression. I'm sure the situations are different, but they say even newborns can be depressed.

Have you asked him where he feels sick? Sorry I'm not much help. I hope he feels better and you figure out what it is.

  • There is this commercial of these kids who everyday say they are sick, I forget what they called it. It might not even be that, but it just sticks out when you say the past few days. I will have to look it up online or write it down the next time I see it.

I think someone said growth sperts [sp?]? It could be my step daughter would have growth sperts [sp?] and her bones would actually hurt so bad, all she did was lay around and whine.
