So, I'm sitting on the couch last night just kind of thinking about things....and then it hit me.....

Our baby is a huge boy and his head is ginormous....and it's going to have to come out one way or another....and that scares the crap out of me!!!!

When you have them naturally, does it really feel like you are being shredded apart??? Be honest....I want to know....

  • No when I was delivering our youngest dd, it hurt pretty bad, but it certninally did not feel like I was getting shredded apart. It felt more like a burning streach...yes it hurt but after it was all said and done, and I look back on it, it wasn't that bad. Good luck!

  • haha, i knew that....i was a cone head baby...lol! but thanks!

Just to set your mind at ease a little bit, when the baby drops and your body starts to prepare for birth, his/her little head will start to cone a little bit. Babies are born with fontanels (or soft spots) where the plates of their skulls have not yet formed the hard suture lines between all of the plates. This allows the baby's head to sort of "squish" a bith the plates will overlap to some degree, and the baby's head will cone to some degree (and it may stay like that for a few days), but this will allow the baby to come out of your body without issue in most cases.

  • RE: you edit. I didn't feel anything b/c of the epidural but a friend of mine had an epidural and apparently numbed her everywhere but in the vagina area and she compared to to a blow torch on the vagina feeling. Not trying to scare you though, lol. You will soon forget about all the pain and be overwhelmed by love for your LO. Good Luck!

  • haha, it's okay to try and scare me....it might make it easier because the pain might not be as bad for me as everyone says....like another PP said....

  • Just remember everyone is different! My SIL is TINY. She looks like a 12 yr old and she had her 8lb 4oz baby boy naturally. I'm a pretty average size girl with wide hips and couldn't get my 8lb 9oz boy out. And just so you know.. my c-section wasn't that bad. Either way you'll forget all about the pain once you see your baby. Good luck =)
