Where I live fireworks are illegal. That of course doesn't stop almost everyone around me from setting them off. That's bad enough, I've been hearing fireworks for the last 3 hours now. Now that's stupid enough, If the cops would come by the fine is 250.00, I think, but  there has been lighting and thunder going on for about an hour now. It started off to the north and west and is now over head. has this stopped the fireworks? No, these people are still out setting of fireworks and have their kids out side with them. I don't get it. Why take chances in a lighting storm just to set off illegal fireworks?

  • At least there is only one of my neighbors...YES just one!  In a cul-de-sac lighting them off, but in our subdivision there are common areas that he can go to to set them off...but no he is doing them right in the middle of the cul-de-sac and i have a 3 year old...2 year old and 11 month old that is trying to sleep...i'm tempted to go over there and say hey...the noise ordinance is at 10pm and my kids are trying to sleep so maybe they can go to the common area...but you know, if i didn't have kids i would be setting em off...but this seems like the longest fourth of july ever because they have been going for so long like two days ago they were going off until 3AM...yesterday until 2AM and i'm sick of it...

  • I have put my 8mo old to bed 4-5 times and it didnt work. I just wish someone could tell me if I can give her the Motrin for her teething with the Previcid for her tummy. She might actually calm down for a while.

    Quoting first-one:

OP, you must live next door to me, because that's the only house that isn't setting of fireworks in my neighborhood right now.  I swear it sounds like downtown Baghdad here.  Just pissed about it.  It's 11:00 pm here now and here's the thing....  Fireworks are illegal in Colorado.  It's illegal to even have them in your possesion.  And we have noise ordinances - starting at 10:00pm.   My neighborhood has had fireworks goign off for the past THREE F'ING WEEKS!!!  And in my neighborhood, it will continue for THREE MORE F'ING WEEKS!

and I have a ONE year old that is trying to sleep.  My head hurts and I now hate July 4th.

  • I can could hear the big fireworks last night and tonight in 2 different towns a couple of miles away, but my little neighborhood is quiet. Its only a few blocks big, and the people who live here are all older, or have small children like we do. Its kind of nice that its quiet. Some kinds of fireworks are illegal here, I'm pretty sure bottle rockets are.

  • Ick, I hate fireworks too. When I was little we were setting them off at our usual block party and a supposed "dud" went off a few minutes after everyone thought it was out and shot down the street to where all the kids and moms were sitting. It went straight into my neighbors chest and was so hot it literally melted her bra to her shirt. They had to remove both her breasts because the burns were so bad and she had scars all over her body. Yeah.. I could never see the attraction to set them off after that. We watch the professional shows from our balcony now. Plus, I hate driving on the 4th. Way too many stupid drunk drivers.

  •  Here they are illegal also.  But it's a $1200 fine if caught.  The people across the street from us are drunk and setting them off, PLUS they live next door to a field full of dry, dead brush.  Atleast they don't have kids though.  We had really bad brush fires last year, so the fire department is VERY strict about this stuff.  Oh well, it's their wallets, not mine.  They could even face jail time if caught.

  • Now when you say fireworks I assume you mean morters and not fountains you can obtain at walmart and the like. Where I am at the morters are illegal and anything else that is propelled into the sky.  We set ours of a little before 9 last night and had a bucket of water and a hose at the ready. We also never set of the "screaming" ones. Safety is necessary for sky bound fireworks. Where I am at if one of those were to end up on the ground there would be a high chance of a fire. If people here want to see fireworks there are plenty of places, most on the water, to cater to their desires.
