Do you think personality is determined in the womb???

I am kind of undecided about this.

I have met women that say their baby was very active and "playful" in the womb but their child ends up being very quiet and reserved...and then I have heard the opposite.

....and then I have heard that some have babies that are exactly how they were in the womb.

I'm preggo now and our little guy is really active. He sometimes has "quiet" days but is mostly a little mover and shaker....

So, what do you think???

DS was super active, a kicker, and a night owl in the womb - he still is lol.

I think your personality is pre-determined. My son who is almost 16 months is a little talker, although he doesn't "talk", hes just constantly jabbering most of the time. I talk ALOT though, and hubby doesn't talk at all. Everyone says I talk enough for the both of us, but I think since my boy spent all that time in my tummy, hes a little social butterfly because of it. Neither of hubbys parents are talkers, so I do think its determined when they are still in the womb... Just hoping BOTH my boys are social, cause I know my hubby has a hard time communicating because he has social anxiety, and was never made to talk. He got away with being silent. Sorry, kinda went off into another topic there, but yeah. lol : )

Both of my kids still have the personality that they did in the womb, both were feisty lil things and still are, funny because when I was pregnant with my dd I always said she is the most stubborn unborn baby ever low and behold she still is seven years later. DS was always kicking punching flipping around going crazy, if I poked my belly back at him he'd kick harder, and yup he does it still now.

Personally I do not think activity in the womb has anything to do with how a child acts after birth.

haha, it's interesting.

DH is usually quiet but has his "hyper" moments. He's a musician and is perfectly content sitting alone playing his guitar.

I am quiet at first, but not because I'm shy...it's because I like to observe people. I usually have no problem starting a conversation with someone and I really don't care what people think of me...

So, I'm really curious to see how our little guy is going to be....

Do I think our personalities are formed "in the womb?"  No.

But I sit in the fence in the nature vs nuture debate.

I think part of our personality is determined by our DNA.  And I think part is determined by the enviornment in which we live.

I was just watching that Natgeo show "in the womb" and they were saying that from the beginning all your genetics have pre determined personality traits.  something like that.

My dd was a laid back baby in the womb, she's 2 yrs old and still is unless somebody push the wrong button.

My son was a kicker, moved everyday, 24/7 like crazy. The only way I was able to calm him down while he was in the womb was eating. Guess what, he's that way now. So if you want to get him to sit down somewhere, or want him to stop crying no matter if it's just for the hell of it or he hurt himself, all you have to do is give him so food. LOL.
