My 5 year old's eye lid is swollen and red! Any ideas!

His inner eye is not affected at all, it's just his upper eyelid! Its really red and swollen. He tells me that is hurts to touch it, but I can't find any sore or anything that would be causing it, so I am at a loss. I am going to take him to the doctor tomorrow, but I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas what is causing his eyelid to swell. He hasn't fallen or anything, just one minute fine and the next red and swollen and as he says "owie"!

Probably a stye. Try putting a hot washrag (as hot as he can stand it) on it for awhile. You can also try a hot tea bag.

Here is a list of the symptoms of a stye

STYES

  • Swollen eye lid(s)
  • Sudden onset of local tenderness
  • Redness of the eye lid(s)
  • Pain of the eye lids(s)
  • Vision slightly blurred
  • External: visible nodule(s) present below the margin of the eye lid
  • Internal: may be no visible nodule present

It happened to my son on his lower eye lid once. Red swollen .. then a little tiny bump though. It was a sty(sp) ... got some medicine from the doctor. And was told to be careful they come back and use sanitizers etc etc.

Sorry mama I know it's not the same *bump*
