my father once told me to find a good man you must measure him by what he has overcame in life not by his bank account. If he came from the bottom and has done everything possble to better himself then he is a good man even if he does not have two dimes to rub together.

That's a very good piece of advice!   My dad used to tell me to never settle for anything less than the best.   Also, you have to weed through the bad to find the good.

My father: "believe nothing that you hear and only half of what you see"

My mother: "Karma will get 'em!"

My moms favorite was actually from Abraham Lincoln.

And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.

My Mom told me when I had my first child "Your life will now revolve around your child, not the other way around"

I was told never to give advice to other people about their children until yours are all grown up by then you'll have grandchildren so just to keep your mouth shut.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree is another one I've heard not that I was told that.

He'll/she'll get what's coming to them you just wait and see.

Those are a few.
