Do you consider being on unemployment getting public assistance.  (( not being on unemployment b/c its a check an dyou don't want a job, being on b/c you got laid off from your  job and you can't find ANYTHING out there in your line of work))

First you have to be approved for unelmployement from a previous job and that job pays into unemployment, so no I don't think it's PA and around here it only lasts so long and then you are on your own but while on it you have to apply for so many jobs and if they find out you turned one down, they can make you pay back so much of the money.

Unemployment, SSI and SSDI are all forms of welfare.

The government gets their money from taxes.

Any social services program that gets their funding from taxes = welfare.
