My son...

Is allergic to yet ANOTHER medicine...

This time he's allergic to this cefdinir he's been taking since Saturday for his ear infection/throat.

He's had diarrhea, and just broke out in a rash like he did with the amoxicillin.

So i've stopped the cefdinir, and i just gave him some benadryl for the rash.

Happy Birthday to me.. :( my baby is yet again sick because of darn medicine :(

Have they tried him on Zithromax yet?

Apparently, Zithromax and Amoxicillin are on opposite ends of the antibiotic spectrum, so it's rare for a person to be allergic to both. Of course, not impossible because my son's allergic to both amoxicillin and zithromax--but he can take cefdinir just fine...

Nope, not yet. His father was a carrier for strep throat. He also had so many ear infections as a child, that he lost hearing in his left ear, and had to have tubes placed in his ears. His father is allergic to amox. and some other medicine that starts with an S. That one made his throat close up and he almost died.

So I'm seeing a trend with Kyle. He is SO similar to his father. That's something I haven't tried yet though. Kyle seems to always have an ear infection, and each medicine has caused him to break out in a terrible rash from head to toe :(

If he's allergic to amoxicillin I would say that he is allergic to all the generics of penicillin. I know I'm allergic to amoxicillin as well and they won't give me anything generic because the reaction could be worse. Hope you find something that works soon. Good luck.
