I need some ones POV

im having trouble with this decision myself... i cant figure out what the best decision for my son is.

he was born with congenital CMV. The main issue he has now is a practically dead immune system. DRS say to give it time, it will strengthen. But for now, a cold will knock him out for a MONTH. Just a simple cold. He just got over one, and he was down for the count for almost a month with a runny nose, and a horrible cough...

now. im worried about the swine flu with him... im scared of the regular flu too, but mainly SF. I know the vaccine is new and also dangerous, but i cant determine which is worse... ESPECIALLY since DH has to get the vaccine, and doesnt that mean ds can get SF? im so confused LOL

so what im trying to determine, is would it be worse to get him the vaccine? or to risk him catching SF?

i know you cant tell me the right answer, but i need some POVS from people without emotions involved... i just wanna put him in a bubble til june

I wouldn't give him the vaccine with it being so new and not tested and his immune system being so weak.

Have you tried upping his vitamin intake and tried some herbal tinctures for immune systems?  I'm not saying these are better than doctors but it couldnt hurt.

LOL not so much witch doctor stuff but I think elderberries help boost the immune system.  I'll doublecheck.  :)

I will say tho -- my chiropractor is basically a witch doctor and I often feel much better going to him than a regular doctor.  So maybe you could try that even.

I don't know anything about the vaccine, but if it were my child I would most likely give him the vaccine.  I would rather do that than take the risk of him getting SF.  Do as much research as you can, first.  If you choose not to get the vaccine, I would encourage you to keep him at home as much as possible so he is not exposed to the flu.  Good luck, mama.

i would not get the vaccine for my son in that situation.  i'm already wary enough of vaccinations, but i'm especially cautious with new items on the market.  my husband has to get the SF vaccine, too, but my son and i won't.  have you talked to your doctor about this?

I dont know if its a live viruis vaccine but if it is and he has no immune system then giving it to him would be bad.

Because i love my little girl  Because yes i am Bipolar

In all reality, we really know little about innoculations. Did you know that they're pretty sure HIV started with the Polio vaccine? It was grown in Rheses monkeys that carry the zoonotic immuno suppressive disease and when it transfered to humans, it mutated into the strains that kill millions of people a year. This vaccine has been linked to Guillian-Barre Syndrome (and I think you should research it). Your son has a very serious immune issue and the Swine Flu could be devastating to him. If I were you, I'd talk to a couple of doctors you trust and also look into holistic options, all natural routes. If I were in your shoes, I  honestly have no idea what I'd do, other than worry myself into a new crop of grey hair. I wish you the very best of luck, momma!

If the SF shot is like the regular flu shot then your little one should be fine. If I remember right it's that as long as its the shot and not the nose spray thing that it's fine. But I'm right there with you. DH is USMC too and he will be having to get the shot, and me and our oldest aren't getting it. I have heard about some of the guys with families not getting the flu shot at all last year. They just said that they already got it.
