How do you keep a baby rabbit from biting?

We just bought a 5 week old rabbit for my son.  He is VERY gentle with him/her and never picks it up bc he doesn't want to scare it.  If we just stay gentle, will it never bite? Or how can we keep it from biting?  I have a friend with a rabbit who bites if you pick it up, so I want this one to be nice. Any tips about biting?  Any tips in general about owning a baby rabbit?  Yes we researched too, but would like some input.

who in the world gave you a 5 week old rabbit?  it should not be away from mom yet.  that is WAY too young.

we have 2 rabbits, neither of them bite, lots and lots of socialization is key.  and to pick up the rabbit make sure one hand is under it's chest, and another hand under it's butt.  they have a MAJOR fear of falling.

i own them, i foster them, i work in rescue.  i have a lot of knowledge and info if you want.  if you're interested just PM me.

if you really want to know about me, just read my personal statement on my profile, it's easier. :-)

Lots of socialization. If it hardly ever gets played with, more than likely it will bite.

like the other poster said, a lot of socialization from a young age.  and 5 weeks is too young to be away from the mother.  I hope it's already gotten the enzymes from momma, or it's not going to last too long.  what are you supposed to be feeding it?  good luck!

The pet store.  It is very small :)  It's eating pellets and hay.  I will PM you so I can get some better insight minus sarcasm from others :)

yes, gotta love the intellectual replies.  i really don't suggest pulling it's teeth out, unless you want to be slapped with animal cruelty charges, but i'm pretty sure you're smart enough to have guessed that yourself...LOL.

Yeah, hold them very securely!  And let your rabbit direct you as to how to hold them.   We had 2 rabbits for a long time (we had to give one away and the other we kept for many years after until he got old and sick).  Hoppy liked to be held with your hand on his back and one under his butt while his head was under your chin and he was laying against your chest.  Bob liked to be held just like a baby, lol, on his back, cradled in your arms.  Another good tip is that if they resist or are trying to get down from being held, put them down and try again later...like any animal, they like their alone time :)
