Hi, new to the group :D My name is Wendy.
Currently, Im 6 months pregnant, with a 10 month old daughter who still nurses 3-5 times per day, with no signs of stopping. So I plan on tandem nursing my babies! I am also planning a homebirth, mainly because I dont trust anyone babysitting my baby for 3 days, and they wont allow her to stay in the hospital with me and daddy. Looking forward to the group getting started going and lots of good advice! |

Hi, Wendy , welcome and congratulations on the pregnancy!
I give you a lot of props for you choices:) HB, tandem nursing etc. I can also relate to babysitting concern LOL My babies never had a sitter because of the paranoid parents hehehe. Keep up the good nutrition and make sure you partner knows how to catch babies, second labors can be speedy! |

Hey Carrie :D
yea, how do you do it!? Midwifery is one of the careers I've thought of If I ever get to go back to school. I'm almost done with my BS in chemistry, but I had to leave college due to being poor =x (*lol*) It's either that or pharmacy. I guess it all depends how much longer I want to spend at school.. but I have a distinct feeling that midwifery would make me much happier. I love giving women information about natural birthing, and speaking out against the state of birthing being so medical! |

Wendy , Pharmacy is sooooo boring in comparison to midwifery... I am a lead technician in one and it is just a job. YOu get to deal with old, sick, depressed and do not forget junkies :0( Babies and mommies -passion!

hi ladies! my name is lindsey. we have a 10 month old son, and are pregnant with baby #2 due in november. my mind is convinced that i am having twins, but my first prenatal isn't until the end of the month. i'm so anxious to find out! lol...
with jeremy, my son, i had a horrible experience (though i didn't know it at the time). i am much more informed about my choices and about breastfeeding and such. with him, i went to the hospital as soon as i was in labour, had an epidural when i could, was in labour for 24 hours, they let the epidural wear off and i pushed for two hours, but he was tilted and sunny side up, he wasn't budging. i tried several positions, but nothing that required getting out of bed or really off my back. i ended up with a c-section. i had PPD, and severe nausea, and my mother's "breastfeeding is easy, just put the baby on the boob, anyone can do it" that all contributed towards me not ending up breastfeeding for long. he has been a real colicky handful for his whole life. quite stressful! with this new baby(ies!?) i am planning a homebirth VBAC, and it will have to be unassisted because here in arizona it is illegal for a licensed midwife to attend a homebirth VBAC. i am going to a birth center for my prenatal care, but when the time comes, hopefully i'll be able to stay home. im reading a book on hypnobirthing right now. i want to have a waterbirth. i am going to leave the umbilical cord on for 2-3 hours and then make placenta pills to ward off PPD. it is possible that my husband is going to be deployed in october, and be gone until january, so he might miss the whole thing. in which case i would be by myself to have this baby. if thats the case, i'm going to get a doula to help take care of jeremy while i'm meeting the new baby. i hope things go a lot smoother this time around :) glad this group is here! thanks |

What a wonderful thing VBAC! I have served as a Doula for many and it was , I tell you , even more rewarding! It is such a special achievement when you know how ludacris the whole unnecessary repeat c section is. To prove them all wrong and show how safe and wonderful it is!
Good for you!! You may have a harder time finding a Doula willing to do an unasisted for the liability reasons, to make sure you have support you may want to consider a signing release from liability form. |

Hi, my name is Kat. I'm 22, have a daughter who was born Nov 2006 with baby #2 due in Nov, as well. My daughter was born in a hospital 5 weeks early due to a partial placenta abruption, so I do want my new baby born in one just in case. I didn't have a bad experience, I was on pitocin which wasn't doing anything, my doctor broke my water which did EVERYTHING, and 5 hours 16 minutes later my Kyra entered. I had an epidural with her after a shot of staydol (sp?) and this time I want to avoid any kind of drugs. I don't really have a support person, unless you count my grandma, and am wondering if anyone knows any doulas in the bellingham, wa area?
