I am April and Im in Winchester, tn.....

I discovered that I was bi-polar when I was in college. I never experienced any mania or depression until then.

When going for a psych evaluation for my job (which I did a+ on BTW) the instructor/psychologist and I started talking about my mom being schizophrenic and how it I was taking an upper level class on abnormal psychology and I how amazed I was that people had absolutely no clue what schizophrenia was nor the syptoms... this lead to me telling her my concerns of passing it on to my children some day...

she responded back with "schizophrenia isnt passed down to children... it isnt hereditary like that... but a lot of time... children of schizophrenics are bipolar"....

I thought "well they hit the nail on the head with that one!!"

So who are you? when did you find out? and how are you dealing with it?
