ok...so heres my predicament

im 30 weeks along and really starting to get anxious about delivery..and im torn between going natural or having the epidural.  Im terrified of needles and afraid because im so jumpy with that stuff but im also worried that im not tough enough to handle the pain...can u ladies give me ur experiences/opinions on this  i really could use some solid advice

Also is there anything else thay can or will give u for the pain besides the epidural?

Thanks

I had my first natural not by choice mind you. His heart rate dropped and i was too far dilated so I had to push him out face up and have a vacuum extraction. my second one I was 3 cm and they gave me a shot of some narcotic until they could get me the epidural but in 2 minutes I had dilated to 10 cm and was pushing the baby out! So needless to say the medicine did not work until after the baby was out and I still haven't gotten an epidural. this time I am thinking he is going to come even quicker so i am not planning on anything until it happens. I will just wait and see how it goes.

My plan is to play it by ear. My birth plan states not to ask about pain meds- if I want something I will ask for it.

They have intravenous meds too, not just an epidural, but I won't be using those because my nephew was born 10 minutes after my sis got her 2nd dose and he was so groggy that he didn't latch for like 4 hours!

Talk to your doc about your options and the pros and cons of each, and of waiting!

good luck!
