The last couple of nights my 3 yo son will open the front door to find his 'wishing star'. I don't know if it's a different star each night or the same one but it's always his 'wishing star'. I'm not sure who taught him --- probably a movie or tv show he watched... disney?? PBS??? I dunno. Anyways, he goes out there and says, "Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might have this wish I wish tonight. I wish I had my music box. Good night wishing star!" Then he closes the door and comes back in.
Now, a little background. He often wakes up and comes to me saying he had a dream. He says it's a box and when he opens it there is a 'doggie' inside and music plays. He dreams of a music box with a doggie inside... it's an actual box though, not the little wind up figurines that I always see now.
Now for my question --- does anyone know where to find one of these? He has a birthday and Christmas is coming up and I thought it would be good if we got him this music box. He's been dreaming about it for close to a year. I think it's really strange but he seems to like it so much! We don't even own a music box so I'm not sure how he learned of them. Anyways... HELP!!!
I don't know where to find one - perhaps a speciality pet store - But I think he heard that from Pinichio (sp??? Sorry LOL)
Does he watch the good night show on PBS? IF so he got the wish star from there.
so a box that has a musical doggie in it huh? ok i'm just being a bit dense here, but you remember the music boxes that they have where you open the top and a ballerina pops up and starts twirling around? similiar to that? or just a plain box with a wind up musical doggie toy in it?
Here's a fun solution not sure if it's too pricey though or not. Get a box and head on over to build a bear. Make him one of the dogs and then put one of the musical thingys inside it before you sew it up. It's like 1 or 2 more for the noise thing inside. just a thought.

Okay, so here are my thoughts on what you could do. You could find someone to make one for you. Here is a link the a person on Etsy that paints music boxes. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=32457155 you could get her to paint the outside with his name and a picture of a dog and then when you get it could could put a little dog figurine inside. That's all I can come up with. :)

This one is a wooden music box with two dogs on top going around
This one is like a jack in the box, only it's a dog (very cute)

How odd, Ziff. I can't help you, but let us know what you find and decide on. :o)
Wow - that's a pretty specific dream. I looked all around and all I could find was a cute box with dalmations on the lid, or a jack in the box where a dog (instead of a clown) jumped out. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I'll keep my eyes open. Good luck!
Merlyn.... yes, like the ballerina one. ;) Sometimes he does watch the night night show on PBS. I guess that answers that question.
I know... it is weird and very specific. Especially since we don't have jewelry or music boxes. I really don't know where he got that from.
You ladies did so much better than me! I tried googling this and I found some really cute music boxes but they ranged from $80 - $1100 -- for a MUSIC BOX?!! I don't care how special his dream was but I can't spend that much on it. haha! I know... cruel mommy. I like a lot of those ideas... I'll let you know when we make a decision and which one we choose. ;)
Thank you thank you!!!
