So I am breastfeeding again and I thought this time was going much better, but apparently not. With my 15 month old I was only able to breastfeed for 3 months  and by his se4cond month I was having to supplement with formula which was difficult because he got diarrhea until we put him on alimentum. This time it seemed as if my milk came in early and my lil guy was happy. Until lately, he will be a month next week and when I put him on the breast he nurses for an hour and falls asleep when I remove him and lay him down he cries and wants the breast again. I have tried nursing off both breast but he is constantly on me for hours. I cant put him down but for 30 minutes before he complains he is hungry again. I pump but after he breastfeeds that long I can only get a half ounce out, if that. So I have been using what I was able to pump prior to his greediness. but I am running out of breast milk. He drinks at least 3-4 ounces.  But I cant have him on the breast all the time. I try to feed him on my breast at night but he wont go down to sleep because he isn't getting what he wants. So I resort to bringing him to bed with me so I can pop it in his mouth when he wakes for a feeding which is usually almost every hour.  I don't know what to do. I try to drink lots of fluids and eat good, I cant have any dairy because it gives him diarrhea which means if i supplement he will have to be put on alimentum as well. I take my vitamins every day. I massage my breast to get more to come out but I don't know what to do. If I just pump through the day I can get maybe 1-2 ounces every 2 hours. but its not enough to satisfy him because he wants to eat more. any advice on what I can do to promote more milk. I guess I should mention I am a very large breasted woman and was so before both births. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. But I am starting to get frustrated because everyone wants me to feed with my milk and yet my breast do not want to cooperate.

I know you posted this awhile back, how is it going? Hopefully it has gotten better for you.  I had a terrible time nursing my daughter.  I think I was starving her because nothing seemed to be working properly. I would spend nursing sessions crying because she would just scream and scream and it would be so unproductive.  I finally put her on formula and she was a different baby, much happier and so was I. I'm not saying you should do this by any means, just want you to know I can relate a little bit. I was a bit scared off from trying again when I had my son and then I was really sick immediately after he was born so he was formula fed too.  I hope you got it figured out, I'm sorry no one jumped in until now to help you out.  Maybe one or two other mom's in the group will have some better advice than I could offer.

I have not had this prob, I did have a prob feeding though and just went to pumping, I too am a very large breasted woman, but I had a friend who had a prob producing, and I guess there are a few medications you can take to increase your supply.

talk to your dr about them and see what he says.
