I just got a d5100. The light that comes on when the shutter button is pressed is VERY bright. I cannot take a single photo of my daughter with her eyes open because of this. Is there a way to turn it off? I've flipped through the dial of pre-set settings but they all have that insanely bright light. Help!
Why don't you shoot in manual or get a diffuser? You can't really control the pop up much, or you can invest in a speedlight so that you can control the output. If you don't have a diffuser, coffee filters place over the flash help or a thin white cloth..
Ah, well.. because I didn't really know what any of that was LOL I am just now taking the huge step from a point and shoot to a DSLR. And it's not the pop up flash that was the problem but the little light that comes on before the flash, whatever that is called. Pre-flash? I dunno.
