I'm dina. I live in Centre County PA with my three kids and my husband. Zack was dx'd severe ASD a year ago at 22 months. He is currently getting OT,ST and DT 2 hours a week each and has 30 hours of Verbal Behavior, a form of ABA.
I created the momsversusautism.org website to help parents find resources and answers for our area. As I became more involved with cafemom I realized that more people all over the country needed more resources and I have been inspired by thousands of parents to join the fight against autism - its causes and its therapies.

  • I have been happily married (whatever that means) for ten years. I do not have any family living nearby. I am Cancer (not a fanatic but I think it is fun!) I love Cats and food! I am very mischievous with my friends, I love to wind them up to make them laugh and take it back. I am very straightforward and I can take it back too. I can talk about anything, I am very open and often politically incorrect (not in purpose). I believe in God in the way of “God doesn’t give us what we can handle; God helps us handle what we are given”, bottom line: “If it is to be, it is up to me”. I am certain we are the experts regarding our children; we have the ultimate word, which is the most efficient way to obtain their requirements. Regarding Autism: The World is not going to adjust to my Son, I’m the responsible to amend my Son to adapt to the World… And I am convinced cats are 100% Autistic!!!

  • I'm Lynn, and I live in Illinois, about 75 miles west of Chicago.  I have a 10 yo with autism, he is high functioning.  I have a step daughter who is 15 with a LD.  They're great kids!  Each day is a challenge with my son Kyle.  I feel fortunate to have him the way he is.  I don't feel that anything was stolen from me, or anything like that.  I love him so much, he's so unique, and keeps me laughing, crying, and alive!  I think that everything happens for a reason, and there is a reason I have this unique child, and a reason I've connected with other Mom's as well.  I live with my Dh, although, he'll probably be going soon.  I believe he's on the spectrum as well, but does not care to have any sort of eval.  My stepdaughter lives with me, and will always stay with me and Kyle.  Her name is Dominqiue.  She's such a kindhearted girl, and has only lived with us for about 6 years.  She had to grow up in a bad environment prior to that.  Anyway, I haven't really posted any resources, because it seems like everyone has the ones that I have.  However, when ever I read a great book, article, or website, I will be sure to pass it on!  Thanks for forming this group!  Lynn

  • Hello, Ihave a 3year old that has autism, and we are in the process of getting ABA therapy,we take him 2 times a week to a place that's called My Gym so he can interaact with other children,he is still non verbal, but I'm hoping he will eventually talk....he did have about 3 words at about age 1 and a half.  We live in Bakersfield California, I'm looking forward in getting all the info I can from this group, so far I've learned so much seeing the mercury and autism video in this group....very interesting!
