I'm dina. I live in Centre County PA with my three kids and my husband. Zack was dx'd severe ASD a year ago at 22 months. He is currently getting OT,ST and DT 2 hours a week each and has 30 hours of Verbal Behavior, a form of ABA.
I created the momsversusautism.org website to help parents find resources and answers for our area. As I became more involved with cafemom I realized that more people all over the country needed more resources and I have been inspired by thousands of parents to join the fight against autism - its causes and its therapies.

  • My name is Amy and I have a 3 year old  boy named Erubiel that was diagnosed last November with autism.  We just moved to Arizona from Illinois.    When I saw someone from Ottawa it reminded me of home!!!  I know someone who lives in Ottawa!  Anyway, we are happy to live where we are living, the services are great!

  • My name is Pat. We are in SE Nebrasaka.   My husband and I have custody of my two year old granddaughter.  We do not have the official diagnosis of autism yet - We are told that diagnosis cannot be made until Virginia is observed by the school system's psychologist.  However, Virginia was immediately accepted into the early intervention program based on her significant developmental delays -- in particular communication.  She is visited in home once a week by either a speech therapist, occupational therapist or special ed teacher.  I am now a stay at home mom working with Virginia a least a few hours everyday -- reinforcement of the therapist's weekly exercises, sign language - and generally hanging out and having fun with each other.

  • I am Pamela.  I live in Eagle River, Alaska with my four children and my husband.  Dalton was diagnosed in January with High Functioning Autism...he is almost 8 so this was a late diagnosis.  He was diagnosed as having apraxia of speech around age 2 and ADHD at age 6.  I am now in the process of having him evaluated for services in addition to the services he began receiving when he was just a toddler.  I know his early interventions helped but he missed out on other interventions because we hadn't found the correct path.  I am a strong supporter of early intervention!
