Do you ladies set menues for the week?  How often do you cook arabic?  I know that our (Lebanese)  breakfasts are usually light...lebneh, jibni, fweke, khudra and the occasional man2eesh.  Lunch is usually our heavy meal and we have light suppers(usually sandwich of jibni, zataar, zatun, and banadoora).  However, I don't stick to this with small babes that need substantial meals or if hubby will be home for supper, etc.  What about youg guys?  Do you follow the ethnic eating traditions?

  • I actually dont pre-set my menus, but i usually schedule out-meaning like Monday is some kind of fish dish, tuesday-chicken, wednesday spaghetti night, etc...then based on what i have and how often - thats when i plan what actual dish to make.  It also helps with shopping.  The majority of our meals are arab recipes (and others made up along the way).

  • assalamu alaikum

I put a rough menu in mind before I go shopping for groceries for the week.

I try to have a meal with chicken, one with red meat, one with sea food, and one with no meat at all.

we eat left overs so I cook every other day. and I always have extras in the freezer.  ( so sometimes I end up cooking every two to three days)  we dont' eat out much ( very rare) and always have home cooked meals.

yes, mostly Arabic dishes. except for the delicious German dishes I learned from my mother, some Cajun recipes from Louisiana. and some of my inventions as well. it is never dull in my kitchen lol ( I guess because I aim at NOT being in there everyday LOL)

    Love and salaam (peace)
