Ok sisters I know in the states buying tortillas is super easy and cheap....but for those of us who dont have that pleasure---or u wanna try making ur own, i found this recipe that is sooooo easy and quick, and it actually tastes better (and is easier to make) than when i make pita...
2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 baking powder
2 TB veggie oil
3/4 cup lukewarm milk
mix the dry ingredients in a bowl. Combine the oil and milk-add to the dry ingredients. Mix well, then kneed for about 2minutes. Let rest for about 20min.
break into small ball shapes (about 7 to 9 depending on how big or small you want them). Allow to rest for 15minutes.
Roll out each ball....to as circular as you can get it....the thinner the better...the thicker the more like the gordita bread it becomes.
Once rolled out....get a HOT PAN, SKILLET, on the stove-good and hot. NO OIL
place each tortilla in...wait 30sec to 1min (depending on how warm the pan in) you will notice it start to bubble, but check...anything longer-and yes they burn. FLIP, do the same on this side-barely 30sec
and VOILA....easy tortilla.
It supposed to be easy to freeze, but honestly---our have not lasted more than a couple of hours....once i find Whote Wheat i am going to play around with it....
TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!!
