6 large potatoes (1 3/4 lbs.) Peeled

3 Tbsp. milk

1 large egg beaten

1 1/4 tsp salt

Large pinch white pepper

1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cup the basic kibbe stuffing

1 to 2 Tbsp. butter

1/4 cup crushed cracker or bread crumbs **optional

Peel potatoes; quarter and slice thin so they will cook through quickly. Steam in tightly covered pan over 1/2 inch water for 10 to 12 minutes. until tender. Mash potatoes with milk to make them smooth and creamy. You should have about four cups mashed potatoes. Beat in egg, salt, and pepper.

Butter an 8 inch ring or round cake mold. If you want to gild the lily , sprinkle crushed crumbs over the mold

Line mold with half the potato mixture and spread kibbeh filling over layer. Spread remaining potato over filling. If you are using crumbs , sprinkle them over the top and dot with butter , or just dot potatoes with butter. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 1 hour until top is well browned. Run a knife around the edges carefully shake pie loose and invert into serving platter.

Sorry, my mind lost me- Kibbeh is like a basic meat filling. You can use lamb, or beef... I will get the recipee for it up asap.

Salam Sisters,

I am new to the group. I think my husband would love this because he loves mashed potatoes. Sounds similar to an american recipe called sheppard's pie. I will definately try it and let you know how it comes out.

ELF SHUKRAN

I made this dish tonight and it came out super yummy!!  I prepared it-did everything, cooked it in the over for about 15min until i realized that i didnt add the egg to the potatoes...so i took it all out....really hard to seperate without making too much of a mess, then i rebuttered the pan, re-bread crumbed the whole thing...and added it with the eggs mixed it....LOL.

All in all, very yummy
