I accidently started a discussion about shirt-lifting in the other thread for photos and thought I'd restart it in a fresh one.

I appreciate the suggestion to start teaching him the sign for milk now.  I have been trying for about six months!  But I hope this is a new learning window, and I'll try to raise my expectations.  DS (11 months) recently learned to sign "all done" and wave (hello/goodbye) so its clear he finally understands the concept of signing.

I am also getting frustrated because for about a week or more, around the same time he's learned he can pull my shirt down, he's decided he simply must twiddle, pinch, pull and twist the opposite nipple while he's nursing.  This is making me crazy and I always say "ouch, that hurts mama, please don't pinch/pull/etc."

So now, when I leave the house i'm going to stop wearing the nursing tank tops and start using clothes that will make these two new habits more difficult for him.  I'm just wondering if this is just a short-lived phase? and if anyone has additional suggestions.

My DD is only 6 months but she started twiddling/pinching/pulling long ago. I find it very irritating. I started holding the hand that wandered. But I found this website for you. It might help. Or you could make your own and have him help you pick out the beads.

Good luck

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried holding his hand but it really aggitates him and wakes him up, as he really starts to struggle and is pretty strong. Of course that doesn't apply when NIP as he is usually not going to sleep then.  I'm going to try it with a necklace that I already have and see if that helps.

I just kept being persistent with moving my daughter's hand away from the pulling/pinching/tweaking. It aggravated her, and sometimes she'd cry, but it really bothered me too, and I just wouldn't let her do it. Didn't take too long before she got the hint.

Now, occasionally, I see her walking around pinching her own nipple!!

My little guy even tries to play with his big brother's nipple if he lays on his chest, he just repeatedly moves his hand away.
As for on me, he kinda has outgrown it and actually will GRIP ( not too tightly) my breast like a bottle when he nurses....NOT too bad thank God the pinching and pulling passed.
He's 15 months now.
he DOES however love to play and pinch at my belly fat when going to sleep...UGH how humbling LOL>
