  • I am trying to figure out what I want to do. Joy was born in March, and I don't think I will want to start teaching right away this fall. I am hoping to find something I can do at home, so I can stick with my girl!

  • Here are a few questions:

Are you looking for a "job" or "business"?
What to do you like to do....scrapbooking, cooking, entertaining, candles, working with children, reading, jewelry?
Is this more for a hobby or would it turn into a full time gig?

Ask whatever questions you want here, we would be happy to help.

    Good luck in your search!

Congrats on your new baby  :)

  • i am looking for a part time JOB, but may want to do full time later. I am really good with people (like customer service), and love to help make people happy. I like cooking, taking pictures, shopping, giving surveys, and kids.

  • Personally, I like having my own business.  I enjoy having control, setting my own hours and the tax write offs.  J

  • I stay at home with my son.  I previously was a teacher for about six years before I had him.  I love working from home and spending my time with him.

May I ask, why not look into a home business instead of a J.O.B.?  What is holding you back from persuing that option?  You have some awesome creditials I look for in team mates:  ie: really good w/ people, love to make people happy, like to cook, like to shop and kids!!  If we didn't like kids we wouldn't want to be home for them or make a better life for them.

With a business you can work your own hours.  You can pick a business that works best with your interests and you can be passionate about.  You can work the business the way you want to, ie:  hobby for some extra cash or full time business builder.  The flexibility is endless.

This is an option that I thought I would try and expand for you.  I wish you the best of luck in your search.

  • well ive always wanted to work for myself and set my own hours. now w/a child i really am grateful ive been able to be home w/him this long! but i know that very soon i will need to return to work.

not really sure at all how to get started- i liketo do a lot of things. I sew and design clothes, i like arts and crafts, im very good at sales, phone sales and telemarketing, and im extremely organized. i also love to read and write and im very creative. i have experience in retail management, mortgage, banking and basic office work. I know i can get a really good job but my son is only 6mths old and im very reluctant to leave him for all those hours w/a sitter.

i dont know if any of this helps but i joined this group b/c it seemed like u ladies could really help/advise me on getting started. i dont have a lot of money to put into this, but im willing to give it 100% effort, ive just been afraid of scams and not sure what to invest my time in-

Not sure if you are leaning towards searching out a JOB or a Home Business.  I know more about home businesses so that is where my opinions are coming from.  Here are my two cents -

Follow your interests and passions.  There is an old saying "If you love what you are doing, you will never work again." and I believe that holds true for businesses.  You say that you are creative, like arts and crafts - how about checking out some scrapbooking companies?  You enjoy reading and are obviously a mom - take a look at Usborne Books or other books companies?  Are you a girly, girl and like to have nice makeup or jewelry - check out businesses in that avenue.  The options are far and wide.

When searching out a business, be very specific.  I would advise not posting something like -"Looking for home business" - you will get SLAMMED with every thing out there that is not up your alley and will get overwhelmed with it all.  Ask for more info. on a certain type of business or products.

Each business has their own start-up fee, that is just how the home businesses work.  Some may not require any money up front, but you will eventually have to pay for your starter kit in some way, either by earning it or paying for it in installments.  Those fees can range from $10 - $1000!  Be sure to read all the fine print.

Now, if you are interested in just a JOB at home - good luck there.  Not sure what is really legitimate out there.  My advice, check your local businesses and see if you can do some freelance work for them at home.

Good luck with your search.  I hope you find something that will fit your lifestyle and mesh well with your family.
