My daughters school sent home a note that they needed a physical on record for her. I have had sooo much trouble getting along with doctors, or for that matter anyone who worked with them. I was worried about how I was gonna get it done. A friend told me about this doctor who was pro-vax, but not a real nag about it. I had never heard of them and they are only 10 min from me. Anyway, I called and spoke with them last week and they seemed pretty cool. I told her I didn't have insurance, didn't want NY's insurance and would pay myself. I told her that I didn't vaccinate and didn't do well visits. They just said OK and never got weird or different. So I go today and it was great. The nurse asked if there were any shot records on her and I said no, she has never had shots. She said OK and went right into another topic. She didn't change her behavior towards me or anything. No comments, nothing!! Then I get in with the nurse practioner who was doing the physical. The doc was out today. He asked if her shot records were being faxed and I said she has never had any. He did look a little surprised and asked "she's never had any vaccines at all?" I said no. He asked if we wanted any today and I said no thanks. That was it. No pressure, no lecture, nothing. He was nice throughout the rest of the visit. They are pro supplements and non-drug treatments for some things and the doc is an acupuncturist. I know it was the day before thanksgiving skeleton crew, but I doubt the overall attitude in the office could have changed that much because of it. I don't need them often, but for school physicals and things it's nice to have a place I can go without an argument and being asked not to come back.
You def found a good place! It reminds me of the clinic we used to go to but the doctor had to shut down cuz he couldn't keep up with the economy... i am still sad about it! He was an accupunturist and homeopath and an MD. He never pressured us to do anything and respected our decisions. The nurses would ask are we doing any vaccines today? not, we will be doing this and this like the clinic we were at before... i hate when any doctor or nurse just says we they are going to do something like you don't have a choice! He did do all shots but only recommended the HiB and DTaP so when I told him we weren't going to vax the baby til he was 2, the doc said then he wouldn't even need the two he recommends! my son turned 2 in July and hasn't had any shots and won't any time soon...

Thats great. My son has an appointment next week, its actually his 6 month well checkup, but hes already 8 months. He had his shots up to date until 4 months and then I started researching. My first visit there the resident doctor gave a speel on vaccines, how she questioned them and ultimately decided they are best, and at that time I was not researching so I was fine with it. Now I am not sure how they will treat me or if they will even care at all, they are so busy its like we spend most of our time waiting and a few minutes where I am told absolutely nothing I did not already know and then they do shots.Im dredding this well visit but my son has been having these episodes of alot of mucus from teething mixed with burping or spitting up that results in him struggling to breath for like a minute as he spits all this out and a few days ago it was coming out of his nose so I have to take him in.
