My first question is, at what age did you start giving your LO probiotics? My girls are 7 months old, ebf along with organic fruits and veggies. Should I start them once I stop nursing?
My other question is about yogurt. Family has asked me if they girls can have yogurt. I hadn't really even considered it. They will be drinking goat or almond milk when they're old enough. Is organic yogurt just as bad as cow milk?
We have used acidophilus under 6 months old for thrush as well. I give probiotics any time if the kids have antibiotics but we normally use natural antibiotic thigs instead.
Organic yogurt is better than regular, but I'd just make your own from whatever milk you plan for your girls to drink. It's really easy! All you need is either a live culture or some boughten yogurt to start it with.
I like goats milk yogurt. MMM tasty. I prefer to avoid anything that comes from a cow because the dairy industry in the US is so disgusting.
I started DD on probiotics since she was 2 months old (since i decided not to vaccinate).
As for yogurt, i started giving it to her before i started giving her milk. She is 22 months almost, i nurse her a little bit still, she drink goat milk-unfortunately, i can't get it raw-i am on a waiting list to get a "goat share". But most of her dairy consumtion since she was 12 months old was yogurt-organic or natural (w/o growth hormone use and antibiotics). She loves it.
My son started pro biotics when he was 6 months old. . I would put it in his pumped breast milk. . .I swear by them he has never once had a rash . . :)
I would only use them when necessary! Stick to natural diets containing live cultures and vit c/zinc healthy organics that will naturally keep the immune system boosted and when you need probiotics they will be there to help out!! My son never had thrush and we only used healthy diets and I made sure to keep my nipples clean. Give your children's bodies a chance to grow an immunity and balance it'self out! My opinion is while I'm not doing shots I'm also not giving them too much boosters until they need them! When we have to take antibodies then we'll do probiotics or if they get messed up digestion systems, or if it's cold season then we boost immune systems, but I like for their lil bodies to have a chance to do it all on their own!!
Yogurts also containg live cultures has your good bacteria in it already, so there is no need to dose with a pill, if your child eats yogurt! But if your just introducing dairy into the diets test for reaction before you let loose! There are different yogurts out their cow, goat, soy if you just check for live cultures then you shouldn't need to include a probiotic pill dose as well!!
